It is also widespread in Latin America (Brazil, Peru, Amazon region) and in all humid equatorial zones. Creeping or climbing, this plant is supported on the trunks of cocoa or oil palm trees. Measuring about 50 cm, Desmodium has hairy and trifoliate leaves, small mauve flowers and fruits in the form of pods.
